Habitat for Humanity of Kent County

Project: Plaza Roosevelt

Service: Project Management

In 2013, Habitat for Humanity of Kent County was presented with the opportunity to acquire a 5.5-acre plot of land in the heart of the Roosevelt Park community. Plaza Roosevelt is a neighborhood-focused collaborative development project designed to address the social determinants of health by improving access to affordable housing, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for the Roosevelt Park Neighborhood.

Key Deliverables

  • Engaged Key Stakeholders Throughout the Project: Devised a partnership engagement strategy that facilitated collaboration among 10 community organizations, including Mercy Health, Dwelling Place, Ferris State University, and Grand Rapids Public Schools.

  • Developed a Community Relationship Reparation Plan: Created a plan aimed at mending relationships between community organizations and neighborhood residents to foster trust and cooperation.

  • Tracked Project Status, Goals, Action Steps, and Deliverables: Monitored and documented the project's progress to ensure alignment with community needs and achieve desired outcomes.
